Yellow Furze NS Triumphs in Thrilling All-Ireland Final

Yellow Furze National School emerged victorious in the u-13 All-Ireland Olympic Handball final at the University of Limerick. The team defeated Craughwell NS from Galway with a golden goal, netted by Conor Wyse, in a thrilling 11-10 victory.

The team's journey to the championship was marked by close matches, starting with a narrow escape in the qualifying rounds. They went on to win the Meath finals against St. Paul's, Ratoath, and triumphed in the Leinster campaign, defeating Rush NS from Dublin.

On April 24th, the 10-man team traveled to the University of Limerick’s Sports Arena. They began strong, defeating Crosshaven from Cork 13-3. Their second match against Craughwell ended in a 5-5 draw, foreshadowing the final showdown. In the final round-robin game, they beat St Patrick's from Co Down.

Advancing to the semi-finals, Yellow Furze NS defeated St Patrick's again with a 5-1 score. In the final against Craughwell, they turned a 5-3 half-time deficit into a 9-9 tie, leading to extra time. Conor Wyse’s golden goal secured their historic victory.

Gratitude was expressed to coaches Mr. Martin and Mr. Curtis, and to parents for their support. Yellow Furze NS celebrated their first u-13 Boys All-Ireland Olympic Handball championship.
