IOHA seek 2 Independent Board Members

Expressions of interest are invited for volunteer independent board membership with the Irish Olympic Handball Association (http://www.olympichandball.org/)

The Irish Olympic Handball Association (IOHA) is the all-island National Governing Body (NGB) for Olympic Handball in Ireland. Our vision is to promote the value of the sport in Ireland while providing outstanding representation abroad, provide excellent support for our members and increase the number and quality of coaches and referees, players at all levels (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Club) and the number and geographical spread of handball teams.

We are seeking two (2) Independent Members to the Board with a:

Education sector background

Communication/Marketing background.

If you have experience in either of these areas and want to play a key role in developing Olympic Handball in Ireland, then we are keen to hear from you.

Responsibilities will include the following:

Develop a market position for the IOHA, to a variety of audiences, to enable it to fulfil its mission aims.

Identify and develop commercial partnerships that will support the vision of the IOHA.

Support and make recommendations on the communication and campaign-based activities of the organisation.

Understand the Irish Education system to a good extent, able to engage and guide us through that niche market.

The Board meets monthly and has overall responsibility for the corporate governance of the IOHA. Day to day management is delegated to the Operations Director.

Board members are required to use their best efforts to promote and support the development of the IOHA.

Board members do not receive payment for their services however vouched expenses are paid.

Board meetings are typically held on Monday evenings from 19:00-21:00 at Sport HQ at the Sport Ireland National Sports Campus, Dublin 18 (currently online considering the recent events).

A Board induction program will be arranged by our secretary, Michael Moloney.
