Ireland’s M18 European experience comes to an end

After over 18 months of training and planning the Ireland Men’s 18 squad (born 2000 and later) participation at the EHF Championship in Tulln, Austria has come to an end.

The team made up of home grown talent and players from the Irish diaspora have followed up a preparation camp in Slovakia with battling performances in 7 matches in 9 days and while results didn’t go their way the players, coaches, parents and supporters can be very proud of the team.

The biggest beneficiary of the teams participation in Austria will be the boys Club teams, with the lads individually improving from match to match and they can take what they learned into the new season. In fact team coach Alexander Markovic will be working with a number of the players at Dublin Wings HC.

Michal Hradil, Head Coach Ireland: „We are very happy that we have finished in this way. This tournament was such a long and different way for us. It was fantastic to be here all these days, we were enjoying this time here. A big thanks to all players and all fans, who were here. It´s gonna help our Irish handball and it will be successful to gain more players for handball. A big thank you to our fans, who have been standing behind us all week and cheering for us. That’s really great support.”

“A big thank you to the players, coaches, Team manager Hartmut Krahn, Physio, S + C coach Paddy MacAuley, Parents and Sponsors who made the trip possible. We look forward to seeing the players progress at Club and International level in the years to come and to regularly compete in EHF and IHF competitions and so grow the profile of the sport in Ireland .”  IOHA Secretary Michael Moloney
