Extended Ireland squad rack up quality training hours at home

Ireland’s men’s national team have maintained their training momentum with a camp in Maynooth and Gormanston last weekend.

Following gatherings in Slovakia/Austria and Germany in past months, 20 players came together to intensify preparations for upcoming international tests.

The three-day camp gave coach Roman Abremenko an opportunity to view new additions to the squad in action as well as test the players in various match scenarios.

Eight players based abroad came home for the weekend, while four more had club commitments. The Irish-based players represented a spread of clubs, including UCD, Lughnasa, Astra, DCH and Dublin International.

This camp was the latest step in what is set to be a big year for the team, which will conclude with the IHF Trophy in June. Next up is a trip to Malta in November for two international test matches, the squad of 14 players will be announced next week.
