New National Team Coach Announced

The Board of the Irish Olympic Handball Association is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Coach for the Men’s National Team.

Following a selection and interview process the role has been given to Mr. Roman Abramenko. Roman has been coaching the University College Dublin teams for the last year and prior to this he had a long and varied career as a professional player and Coach around Europe.

Roman’s first involvement with the Squad will be at a training camp in Dublin over the Easter weekend. This will be the start of an important phase for the Men’s squad with the proposed IHF trophy to take place later this year with the ultimate goal being the qualifiers for the 2020 European Championships. The IOHA intend to fill the roles of Assistant Coach and National team manager within the next few weeks.

Any athlete ¬†interested in joining the Men’s National squad that fulfills the criteria of being in possession of or entitled to an Irish passport should email or contact the IOHA office.

Interim team Coach Alex Markovic is now free to concentrate on his role as National Academy Director having coached the team for the past 18 months.
