The 1st in a series of trials for the U-17 Boys and Girls National teams took place in St. Colomba's on Sunday the 24th of January. Having had to be cancelled 2 weeks earlier due to the hazardous weather conditions, the good conditions on the day meant there was no shortage of handball players turning up. Boys from Sligo,Kildare, Meath and Dublin fought it out to prove to the coaching staff that they were worth a chance. Girls from Dublin and Meath also performed to a very high standard. The result was a great days training , socialising and fun. Respective team coaches Alex Markovic and Michael Moloney were delighted by the no. and quality of the players who attended. There is still a no. of trial days left before the squad is finalised so there is still a chance for the Boys and Girls who missed this date to try out for the National Squad. A tri-nations tournament in England in July is the prize and it would be a pity to miss it. |
