Packed weekend of action in penultimate league weekend

With the IOHA League semi finals and finals looming at the end of the month the weekend of April 7th and 8th will prove to be the busiest of the 2017-18 season.

Fresh from their victory in the IOHA  Cup, the men of Dublin City Handball Club will have 2 matches this weekend.

First up is the “DCU Derby” against Dublin Wings (Saturday 12 p.m. D.C.U.) in a rearranged match that was cancelled due to Storm Emma in March. This is DCH’s game in hand over fellow table toppers Dublin International and victory would go a long way to sealing the number 1 ranking spot going into the semi-finals while a draw or victory would assure Dublin Wings of a place in those Semi’s.

On Sunday there will be 3 matches taking place, 2 in the Men’s and 1 in the Ladies league.

In Loughlinstown, Astra Men will host UCC in a do or die match for both teams as they look to secure a top 4 spot ahead of difficult last matches away the following weekend. Defeat for either side could spell the end of their dreams of league silverware for the season.

In the UCD Sports hall the students will host the Men and Women of Dublin City, the student men are looking for a miracle to progress to the semis and will be hoping to take advantage of a DCH team that played 24 hours previously. In the ladies league, it is a jostle for positioning ahead of the semi finals.
