Ireland’s men back in action with Spanish training camp

Easter weekend will be a busy one for Ireland’s men’s national team as 14 players head to the south of Spain for a four-day training camp.
Following their first camp of the year in February, which featured Irish and English-based players gathering in Dublin, this time around the group is bolstered by seven players currently playing in Germany and Scandinavia.
This is the first trip abroad for Roman Abramenko’s squad since last summer’s IHF Emerging Nations Championship in Bulgaria, where Ireland secured victories over Malta and Albania, among a number of memorable performances with a depleted squad.
Many of the squad from Bulgaria are unavailable for this weekend’s camp in Algeciras, giving Ireland a chance to add some depth to the squad, with the likes of young brothers Axel and Sean D’Arcy attending their first camp.
Alongside training each day during their stay, Ireland will take on Colomer Dental Algeciras on Saturday evening and Tempul Motor Balonmano San Fernando the following morning.
This is the first step of Ireland’s preparation for EHF EURO qualification in January next year.
