Dublin International Ladies retain their league crown

IOHA Senior Ladies League Final

Dublin International HC 23 (10) Astra HC (9) 20

The ladies of Dublin International Handball Club retained their league crown following a tense final against Astra Handball Club in Dublin City University on Sunday.

The Phibblestown ladies survived a sustained onslaught from the Astra ladies who were playing their second match in 24 hours.

It was nip and tuck for most of the game and there was only the bare minimum between the sides at half time with DI holding the advantage.

However in the second half and with 2017 MVP Magdalena Andrzejewska contributing 5 goals overall they were able to put some daylight between them and their opponents and run out victors on a 23-20 scoreline.

Katrine Westum top scored for Astra with 8 goals while Aleksandra Radzewicz also scored 8 for DI.

On Saturday in the semi final, Astra overcame the challenge of the UCD ladies on a scoreline of 26-25, again this was a close affair with Astra performing a second half fight back having gone into the break trailing 15-13.
