Day of Drama at Meath Primary School Finals

There were plenty of thrills, spills and drama at the Meath Primary Schools Finals which took place on Monday April 3rd in Gormanston Park as over 150 players from schools in the county piled into the venue in the hope securing gold and a ticket to the Leinster finals.

There were several great matches but the highlight of the day was saved till the end, the boys U-13 final between St. Paul’s of Ratoath and Skryne. After a cagey first half, goals were at a premium but the woodwork took a beating at both ends but the second half was a different story with goals galore! Skryne rattled off 3 goals without reply and looked to be heading towards victory but seemed to run out of steam, due in no small part to their growing injury list. St. Pauls got one goal back and could smell victory and they almost got it in regulation time. However after a tense final minute the score remained 7-7 and so 5 minutes of extra time was required to find a winner and that winner turned out to be St. Paul’s. ┬áThe boys from Ratoath are deserved winners while the boys from Skryne deserve credit for their part in a great match.
