Last month 11 boys from Maynooth Post Primary along with their Coach Hartmut Krahn travelled to Hamburg in Germany to gain some match practice.
Below is a brief report from 2 of the boys regarding the trip.
We, students from Maynooth Second Level Schools, from years 2nd to 4th, went to Hamburg to play handball during the February mid-term break.
We went in with little hope for victory. Eleven boys, most with two years or less experience set out expecting very one-sided results. After the first three losses, the results weren’t all bad but, with that being said, there was a noticeable improvement with the flow of our play, teamwork and communication. The fourth match was a super performance ending in a victory. The last games showed huge potential, proving what Ireland is capable of.

The trip was timely as it provided the team with some experience ahead of the u-16 International Handball Tournament which took place last weekend.
