The IOHA Senior League Tips off this Saturday, October 19th with a mouth watering clash between Lughnasa Handball Club and Dublin International Handball Club.

The teams last met in last seasons Semi Final where DI ran out winners and both teams will be eager to get off to a good start this season.

The 2013-14 season will see 8 teams competing in the Senior League with 2 new teams from Northern Ireland participating, unfortunately Sligo I.T. will not be in the league this year.

Over the next 7 months there are sure to be many twists and turns before the eventual league winners are crowned in April and each team will have different ambitions as to what constitutes a good season.

Last years winners Astra Handball Club and their Coach Andrea Ongaro will be eager to prove that last season was not a flash in the pan by going on to retain their crown.

Dublin International HC, last years beaten finalists will aim to regain what they feel is their rightful position at the top of the Irish Handball tree and with Coach Boris Selak at the helm who could doubt them ?

Lughnasa Handball Club will look to build on last years semi final place and go 1 better and with “New” Old coach Tomas O’Brann√°gain balancing coaching and Champions League Commentary duty maybe they will.

UCC Handball Club will again look to marry the best visiting student talent with the more established  core players and finally get their hands on some gold this season.

DCU Handball Club will look for more consistency this season and build on some of the great results they got last season and book their place in the semi finals at least.

UCD Handball Club will try and build on their core of current and former Irish International players along with Student talent and try and remain off the foot of the league table.

The 2 new kids on the block, Sperrin Spartins and Belfast Handball Club are the great unknown, European Talent and Local enthusiasm give rise to a recipe for some shock results. Both teams have been chomping at the bit to get some competitive action. The friendlies are over, this is the real deal.
