Certificate Of Irish Heritage Presented to Barcelona Chief

Representatives of the Irish Olympic Handball Association were in Barcelona recently and took the opportunity to present the Handball Section Manager of FC Barcelona  Xavier O’Callaghan with a Certificate of Irish Heritage.

The IOHA’s Secretary and Administrator paid a visit to the Palau Blaugrana, home of FC Barcelona  Handball Club to make the presentation.

Xavier can trace his Irish Heritage back to 1717 when his forefather Cornelius O’Callaghan emigrated to  join the Spanish Military.

Xavier is a 2 time Olympian with the Spanish Handball team and in 2000 won Bronze at the Sydney Games.

He has won the EHF Champions league several times with FC Barcelona.

IOHA Secretary, Michael Moloney wished the current Barcelona squad all the best in the upcoming EHF Final 4 adding that they now have some of the luck of the Irish with them now.
