Ireland in Euro 2016 Qualification Phase 1

On the occasion of the 11th EHF Congress in Monaco, Ireland was drawn in Group C with Estonia and Belgium. This next step in Ireland’s development ties in with Ireland’s climb in the rankings to 40th in Europe following their recent participation in their first ever European Championship 2014 Qualifiers in Tel Aviv, Israel. This next challenge for our men’s team is another exciting step on the way to becoming a serious competitior on the European stage.

There was more good news for Ireland with the announcement that the EHF Executive will enter into discussions with the IOHA about hosting the 2014 EHF Congress in Dublin. If successful, this development will be a much needed boost to the Irish economy and reflects the development of the IOHA as a partner of EHF in the expansion of European handball. The Irish bid will be handled together with our Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) – industry experts – MCI.
